FESTIVAL OF FAME
THE BUTCHER BROTHERS – Daniel Buckland
The Fringe, March 15th to March 19th
In an old butcher shop at the edge of town, two muttering old men arrive for the day’s work. Inside the shop today however, a slumberous package is waiting to be discovered. Dark Laugh Theatre Company returns with a tale of twisted contradictions, of meat and of meetings, of rump and rambunctious play and of slaughter and laughter.
JUTRO – James Cunningham and Keren Tahor
The Fringe, March 16th
It is a wonderful two-hander with James Cunningham and Keren Tahor – a love story, set in an underground bar during World War II. It played for two years at the NAF as well as the Schools Festival in Grahamstown.
ROB VAN VUUREN
The Fringe, March 17th
The show, which was nominated for the best one person show at the SA Comedy awards in 2008, sees Rob tear down the fourth wall and invite the audience on a whirlwind tour of his life as an actor. The tales are disarming, honest and self-deprecating and delve into the fascinating psyche of one of South Africa’s favourite performers.
EWOK Live! Iain EWOK Robinson
The Fringe, March 18th
EWOK Live! is a cutting edge Spoken Word performance that blends stand-up genre with the sharp social commentary that defines the modern poetry SLAM. With a distinctly Hip Hop flavour, complete with live DJ accompaniment, EWOK Live! provides any audience with an hour worth of non-stop one liners, lyrical riddles and straight forward rap, in an original style that has yet to displease. EWOK Live! aims for the heart to speak straight to the soul, from the mouth through the mic, to the mind.
