This original South African musical is brought to the stage, for the first time ever, taken from the classic story Jock of the Bushveld by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick. JOCK OF THE BUSHVELD – The Musical, has been two years in the making and is a faithful adaptation of this beloved South African story cherished by millions of adults and children world-wide – the story of the dog with the heart of a lion. When asked about the cost of the production, producers Deon Opperman and Paul Berning said: “A legendary South African classic like Jock of the Bushveld deserves the millions we are spending on it”.

Design
The musical will feature a truly unique and spectacular costume design by Sarah Roberts (My Fair Lady, The King and I, Bravo Africa!) and the African bushveld will be brought to life on the stage by set designer Stan Knight (My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, The King and I, the Magic Flute). This award winning team will ensure that Jock of the Bushveld is a truly breathtaking visual experience.
Creative team
JOCK OF THE BUSHVELD – The Musical is adapted for the stage Deon Opperman and Sean Else. Original music is composed by the massively successful writer of hit songs Johan Vorster. The show is directed by Deon Opperman, with musical direction by Adele Strombeck (My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, The King and I, Ons Vir Jou) and original choreography by Esther Nasser (Jozi Dance Co., State Theatre Ballet Company).
JOCK OF THE BUSHVELD – The Musical will be presented at The Mandela at Joburg Theatre from 04 September 2010.
