THE P T BARNUM
This is one of the premiere VIP venues at Joburg Theatre. Nestled between the foyer and The Mandela theatre, The PT Barnum is an intimate venue of velvet sophistication.
This venue is named after the American showman Phineas Taylor Barnum, who was the founder of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum Bailey Circus and was considered as the first “showbusiness millionaire”.
The PT Barnum resonates an old world showbiz charm. THE BRICKHILL
South African musicals would not be what they are today if it were not for Joan Brickhill. The Brickhill celebrates the actress and producer's contribution to show business in South Africa.
In her time the theatre doyenne produced such theatrical classics as Oklahoma, Lock Up Your Daughters, The King and I and Hello Dolly among many others, with her husband Louis Burke. So it’s very fitting that Joan Brickhill’s theatrical legacy takes permanent residence in The Brickhill; a luxury hospitality venue, with plush red carpets, red velvet and the memorabilia of a legendary career carrying the name of South Africa’s first lady of theatre.
This venue can accommodate 60 guests for cocktails and 40 guests for a seated banquet. It can also be hired as a conference venue for 50 guests cinema style or 14 guests in a u-shape boardroom arrangement.

This venue has been recently refurbished with a contemporary ‘gallery-like’ edge. It’s fresh, spacious and very sexy. Its wooden floors add to the crispness of this venue which becomes the perfect backdrop for a conference, company party or a celebratory cocktail before, during or after the show. Its unique feature is its outdoor terrace which overlooks the Joburg Theatre’s Piazza and the magnificent South African Ballet Company’s rehearsal studios which form part of the Joburg Theatre complex. Guests can marvel at the dancers as they rehearse their choreography on point, whilst taking in the Joburg night air with a glass of their favourite bubbly.
The venue can accommodate 80 guests seated cinema style, 80 guests seated for a dinner or lunch banquet and 180 guests in a cocktail and canapés setting.
